About Mwanza
Mwanza is one of the 28 counties of the African country Malawi. Mwanza is located within the Southern region, one of the country’s three regions. The central city of the county is the city of Mwanza, which has the same name as the general district. While Neno district and Blantyre district are located in the east of the district, Ntcheu district in the north, Chikwawa district in the south and Mozambique state in the west.
While the district lands included Neno district until 2003, with the local administration change realized on that date, Neno district was created from the eastern parts of Mwanza district and the 28th district of the country was established.
According to 2018 official government data, in the district where 130,949 people lived, 92,237 people were living according to 2008 official data.
